I Don't Normally Do This Here, But.....

As some of you know, I have a daily Quiet time, where I spend time in scripture, prayer, and reading my daily Guidepost, now called Walking In Grace. Due to my personal schedule, I'm only able to do this every two-three days, and tomorrow's testimony spoke to me this morning, concerning my sister.

It was a testimony about growing up during the Civil Rights movement, and desegregation, and how the author realized that as soon as he and his new classmates got to know each other, high emotions melted into friendships.

At the end, he writes, ".....many people in my life who I treasure are there because we both looked past our differences to embrace the best we have in each other."

It hit me, because, due to my sister's travels and my mother's outreach through our church, I've gotten to know people from Canada and Japan that I otherwise would never have met. We used to live next door to friends from Ethiopia, and were invited to share in their cultural celebrations.

My point is, can our government stop bickering long enough to realize we all want the same things in life, but we have to come together and COMPROMISE in order to move forward?

It's time to stop acting like spoiled brats, just because you don't like who has authority over you. Stop acting like we have an evil step-parent; one that if we complain enough, a divorce will happen and we'll get one who will allow us to do what we want.

Remember that song from John Michael Montgomery (or was it Garth Brooks?), "Thank God For Unanswered Prayers"? If we get everything we want, what's there to strive for in the future?

We're supposed to be adults, setting a good example for the next generation. Start acting like it.

Survivor 49: Week 5

 Journey:  Nate and MC

Task:  Move sandbags from Point A to Point B before the timer runs out.

TWIST:  There's an advantage in the jungle, but if one finds it, the other loses their vote. Nate realizes MC has a better chance of finding it, so he concocts the scheme to finish the bags all but one, then they go look.  When the timer's nearly empty, they simply move the final sand bag, thus securing both their votes, but neither has the advantage.

At Camp:

Shannon has been uber friendly with everyone except Sage, about creating a merge alliance, but she also tells Steven she wants to vote out Sage. Naturally, this gets back to Sage, who informs the others that Rizzo has an idol, and she feels Shannon is playing way too hard and needs to go. The others agree with her.

Meanwhile, over at Blue tribe, Jawan is driving Savannah nuts. First by using her bag to collect firewood, then by accidentally grabbing her water bottle.  3rd, he seems to try to be around every time she's having a conversation with others.

Challenge:

Reward:  Chickens!

Blue tribe pulls out the win:)  Alex and Steven managed to kill the rooster so they can eat, but the girls are traumatized by the killing.  Though everyone does eat it!  Not like in previous seasons where bleeding hearts either set them free or kept them alive the entire time.

Yellow going back to Tribal; Jason might be on the chopping block, along with Jawan.

Jason's voted out.

Challenge:  Blue wins for the 1st time!

Rizzo finds the rest of his Beware Idol and gets his vote back:)

Now the debate:  Jason, who admitted he's still loyal to his old tribe, or Matt, who revealed he was once a manager at a brokerage firm, and therefore, smarter than his hippie exterior belies?

Matt also tries to get Jawan to turn on Nate, but J TELLS Nate and the others. Meanwhile, Jason tells Sophi he's going to play his Shot In The Dark.

ASM:  Daniel

HC:  Austin

Loaders:  Jax, Isaiah

1) Slow; arrived 15 mins late, due to long P/T conference with Alex's teachers.

2) Customers leaving carts in the entryway.  One lined his up perfectly diagonally with the water; when I collected it, I noticed someone else had left their H cart in the same way next to the Blue Def!

3) Two customers had unruly kids. I was happy when they left.

4) Honestly wondered if I needed to be worried when an entire family arrived, ALL wearing masks! Think they either left while I was on my break or if they exited elsewhere.

5) Didn't wear my boot; it's bothering the back of my calf too much.

6) Had to gently escort two men out of the store when they tried to enter after we closed (only made it as far as the register).

2) 1st customer after lunch had a door marked 10% off.  I didn't notice the computer glitched; HC Austin gave me my o/r, and I hit pay....the customer remarked, "Something's off about that total."

I looked; it said $23K.  Tabbed back; customer now had 110 doors!  Fixed it, then we joked about the 'new math' the computer was using.  "Must be Common Core!"

3) Went to lunch at 6:10, due to Olivia being busy.

Outfit:  Charlie Kirk Day, so red Sarcasm tee, long capris, thin gold hoops.

For Front End Appreciation, we got tumblers, a gym tote, a wireless speaker, and our patch:)  Plus, I noticed cookies and candy up front, so I ate 2 cookies, one mini-Kit-Kat, and 2 bags of mini cheese balls.  I THINK we're getting Jimmy Johns on Friday?????

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Isaac

Loaders:  DS Charlie, Isaiah

2) ASM Alex was on my case; mainly teasing, but after I clocked in from lunch and was headed to the restroon, he stopped me.  "You've got 2 mins; this is becoming an issue; it throws everyone off."

"If you'll stop talking and just let me pee, I won't be late!"  Ended up being a minute late....then had to help a woman find an item (turned out to be a special order), then had to use Isaac's sales ID to ring up Granddaughter Alex's Monster!  She and D had brought me fettucini alfredo, but I'd already eaten.  Managers ordered in Jimmy Johns for Front End Appreciation.  We received tumblers, wireless speakers, patches, and candy.  I'm still waiting for the 'thank you ' note from all the managers!

3) After going up front, discovered the trash, so took it back to Receiving.

Outfit:  Happy People tee, faded jeggings, Halloween Candy danglies

Health:  My right foot developed two wounds Labor Day weekend, which podiatrist said tested positive for staph infection. Began putting antibiotic lotion and wearing compression wrap. At first, I tried wearing a sneaker and a house slipper, then discovered my dress China flat worked better. But PAIN shooting up the calf is what has frustrated me the most.  I'm taking waaaaaay too much Aleve, but 4 capsules twelve hours apart is what is keeping it manageable. About once a week, the pain gets so bad it wakes me up (stabbing pain in calf wound), and had to take an extra dose at 3:30 am just to get to sleep at 5.  At least it no longer itches! And I discovered this week (Oct 2nd) that maybe I need to stop putting the sterile gauze dressing on the calf one?  Pain returned to 'normal' on the 2nd.

Red Tribe:  Nate is learning a new vocabulary!  'Rizz', 'Cinema', 'fire', and 'vibe':) Nate, Savannah, Shannon, and Rizzo.  Jawan just upset Savannah, who caught a crab earlier, by accidentally using her bag to collect firewood.

BB27: Finale

Past Players/Jury Reflection:

Rehash of the Keanu/Rachel fights.

Rachel, what the hell are you wearing? Red short 'bubble' dress with a cross strap? Did you borrow your daughter's dress?  *gag*

Rachel's jaw hits the floor when she sees both Kelley and Lauren!

Watching the recap, Rachel tells Lauren she acts like Vince's puppy dog, which infuriates Lauren (which she thankfully does NOT show her anger!), then is astounded when Vince has the chance to take out comp beast Keanu, but instead evicts KELLEY in the tie-breaker!

BTW Rachel....your ass is showing while you sit on that couch....

Good lord Rachel....playing cornhole in a freaking red strapless dress (ruffled neckline) and yellow flower earrings while the others are in shorts and T-shirts???  Are you always so dramatic in your 'down time'??

Keanu arrives....he and Rachel have a testy 'you should have listened to me' moment, then Rachels asks if he's the one who peed on the floor!  His response?  "I don't know."

"Then take a mop and clean it up!  There's a swiffer for that!"

Lauren:  Thankfully, we all have our own bathrooms in the jury house.

Morgan is clumsy and trips over everything? Ash thinks Katy Perry landed on the moon???

Ugly crying in the diary room....

May the best Judge win!

HOH Pt 1:  Standing on drones, twirling and tilting endurance comp!

Ash drops after 28 mins

Vince drops after 53 mins.

Morgan wins!

Jury Debate:

Ash:  Best social

Morgan:  Good social 1st half; excellent comp beast 2nd half

Vince:  Most HOH wins; most blood on his hands.

Rachel, why the gloves?  Why the red evening gown? Lauren and Kelley, coctail dresses; Keanu and Will, casual dress; Ava her own style.

HOH Pt 2:  Vince vs Ash:  Frankie Grande is back!!! Fly on a zipline to knock down the blocks; then find the pieces with the faces of 6 competitors, then decode it to unmask the Mastermind!!

Vince knocks down the billboards 1st.  Ash still on #2.

Ash knocks down hers; Vince has half the faces assembled.

Vince begins decoding; but keeps getting them wrong.  OMG...it's the ORDER, not the DAY!

Ash, WTH are you wearing???  A brown skirt with a tank top bustier draping to a V at the end, leaving her hips exposed.

Ash wins, 4-1 (her 2nd win!)

Ash evicts Morgan.  WOW...I thought Morgan was going to win!  I'm not sure the jury is going to award it to Ash though.

Jury Votes:

Jury is SHOCKED when Morgan comes out!

Ooooh....I might have been wrong....Ash has a very compelling argument.

Ashley revealed she's an attorney, and Julie has to cut her off when she begins to run over her time.

Julie has to cut off Vince too!

Winner:  Ashley!  6-1.

BB27: Week 12

HOH Comp: Morgan wins!  Ava and Ash can't navigate the cube.

ROFL.....Ava:  "Crazier things could happen:  Morgan could put up Vinnie; Hell could freeze over; Ash could do a chore; Vinnie could finally tell the truth!."

Morgan puts up Ash and Ava

POV:  Remember the Day comp:

Morgan wins again!

Vinnie to Morgan:  "I would so be dominating this game if you weren't here..."  "Lauren would have been just as good..."  Open mouth, insert foot. Don't make the girl second guess you!  I want Ash to go!

Veto Meeting:

Morgan keeps the noms the same:)

Eviction:

Ava:  "Vinnie, don't contact me after this."

Vince evicts Ava.

Ash, what is with your dress?  Gaping in the back....strange 'tail' hanging off your halter??  Is it all one piece of fabric or something?

And Morgan....a leather coat over black tee, shorts, and knee boots???

BB27: Week 11

HOH:  Vince wins!  Keanu slipped.

Puts up Keanu and Ava.

POV:  The teeny tiny stacking puzzle with the large tweezer challenge!

Morgan wins!  Even though the top row is skewed,

Vince and Morgan, late night, talking about percentages.....is it their 'relationship', or chance at jury???

Family vids!  Keanu's mom strapped on a 'Butt-ler'!

Vince's g/f is a no-show; is he too affectionate with Morgan?

K pitches to Ash to toss him a vote and force a tie; he has a better chance at taking out Morgan than Ava or Vince.  This is going to piss off Vince and Morgan....esp Vince, who does NOT want to break a tie!

Veto Meeting:

Morgan does NOT use the veto,

Keanu, Ava, and Ash have an hour to figure things out.

I DO think Keanu has a point; Vince is just doing Morgan's bidding.  He needs to man up, even though K is basically threatening him with his jury vote.

Eviction:

Keanu is evicted, 2-0.  No tie breaker needed.
