May Goals

I know, I know.....ten days in and I'm just now realizing I never posted my goals!  Heck, a few days ago I posted on Patreon, thinking the 8th was the 9th.  I'm slightly confused, lol.....

I was surprisingly productive last month!

-Lose 5 lbs (start 244) Lost 4!  Whoot!

-Send Aiden to editor Check!

-Contact Dawne' for cover art Check!

-Do well at Creative Market Ended up dropping out in order to drive to Lafayette a day early

-Do well at Author Fair Sold 2, swapped 2, donated 2. Probably would have done better had I read an excerpt or talked about my publishing journey.

-Do well at NHS Craft Fair Sold 3; the majority of readers wanted murder/mystery.  Did hand out a lot of cards for those who read on Kindle!

-Do well at Youth Leadership Craft Fair Sold one, but maybe sold 3 more on Kindle???  Plus met a woman writing her memoirs and a woman whose 13 y/o has begun writing stories.

-Find out about passport photo Staples???

-GET VAN FIXED!! 4/16:  Cleaned and replaced loose battery cables; ran for an hour then quit. Mom got $9K back from taxes; she's offered to help.

Health:  Leg wound is still being pesky.  Collagen pack didn't work, so am back on antibiotics (#5 for 2 weeks).  It IS shrinking, and this is the antibiotic I only take twice a day.

Had my teleconference with Dr. Steve on the 5th; my BP is still borderline high, so he wants me back on the BP meds when I'm off the antibiotics.  I've lost 4 pounds, so wondering what I did differently last month??

Hours at work have been switched back, thankfully.  I'm working my a$$ off this month, to pay down my credit cards and get editor and cover art paid!

From The Stupid Files: Y8, W11

Day 50: Rain, 60s; 95 t/a

ASM:  Shannon

HC:  Riley

Loaders:  Jax, Isaiah

1) Felt weird all shift.  Didn't know if I was tired or hungry, or if the mushroom-swiss burger I'd eaten made me feel sluggish.

2) Was HOT from 2-6pm!

3) Had LOTS of returns!  Several were taken back during my 15 min break, then more the first 15 mins of my lunch, and finally even more at close.

4) Felt like I had mild 'brain fog'.

5) Bought a 4th of July headband!

Outfit:  Blue hooded Cabela's sweatshirt, Hallmark Movie tee, dark jeggings, large hoops.

Day 51: Sunny, 60s; 77 t/a

ASM:  Dan

HC:  Levi

Loaders:  DS Charles, Darien

1) Felt a LOT better today!

2) Cust tried to 'help' me bag and put the caulk tubes in the bag wrong!

3) Didn't get my 1st 15 min break; Olivia left at 4.

Outfit:  B/W striped shirt, dark jeggings, black danglies

Day 52: Sunny, 60s; 82 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Riley

Loaders:  DS Charles, Isaiah

1) Olivia had a curious thing going on.  When I arrived, she was in the bathroom (2:50-ish).  At 3:05, she took her break in her car (smoke break???), arriving around 3:20. Then at 3:55, she had to use the bathroom again, and returned around 4:12!

2) Customer's card declined; maxxed out.  Wife got fraud alert; came in and wrote a check. Joked her hubby was in 'time out' while we waited for her arrival!

3) Everyone liked my hair cut! (4 inches off!)

4) Mr. Prov ran in at 9:53 and checked out with his PVC fittings at 10pm.

5) Isaiah informed me his last day is the 14th.  Booo......

Outfit:  Blue crew Cabela's sweatshirt, black dog tee, large gold hoops

Day 53: Rain, low 70s; 82 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Riley

Loaders:  Jax, Isaiah

1) 'Chatty Cathy' customer held up the line; it was backed up to Aisle 19. Someone called Alex and said it was 'freakishly long'. Madi came down to help, but by then, I was down to 2 customers in line!

2) Had to page 3 times for a Code 50 and for the saw. Jax blatently ignored me until I saw him, then pointed out the customer waiting by the saw. Madi unlocked the 100' drain pipe for me.

3) I'd forgotten my raincoat and had texted D about it, then CALLED him a few hours later.  He brought it.....at close.  Fortunately, it had stopped raining by then.

Outfit:  Brown gauzy shirt, dark jeggings, blue sappire hoops

Day 54:  Rare Sat Sunny, mid-70s; 122 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Levi

Loaders:  Jax, Kyran (import from LG)

1) As you can tell from the transactions, was BUSY!!  Non-stop for 3 hours; Trevor came to give me an o/r and stayed to help me out for several minutes!

2) Isaiah called in; hence Kyran's appearance

3) Finally calmed down around 8:30!

Outfit:  Gray leopard stripe l/s tee, dark jeggings, thin gold hoops

Day 55:  Rare Sun Mother's Day Sunny, 60's; 66 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Levi

Loaders:  Jax, Miguel (from LG)

1) Chaos around 3:45!  Yancy had gone to break (we were dead); Jax was at lunch; DS Charles had gone home for the day (I didn't know this). Suddenly, one customer needed shingles brought down; another wanted a pallet of concrete blocks; a woman needed help getting a board from the rack.  Multiple pages for Jax or Charles went unanswered. My Zebra malfunctioned; #2's phone didn't work. Finally, Alex appeared and filled me in the situation. He helped the woman and got down the shingles. Jax reappeared and was able to get the blocks. By the time Yancy got back, things were somewhat under control!  I took my break at 4:45 and gratefully sat down!

2) Saw Izzaboo!  (formerly of Millwork)

3) After Yancy left, at one point I needed an o/r, so moved to #2 again until Charlie arrived.

4) Learned someone shoved a pallet of garden pavers into the rack and bent it; it took two forklifts to get it down without it crashing down.

5) Friend Julie and her hubby Jorge were my final customers.

Outfit:  Blessed G'ma tee, #1 Mom pin, dark jeggings, large hoops.

Tribal Council:  Ozzy, Steph, Rizzo, Cirie, Devins??

Devens spills the beans on everyone who called people out, including Steph's steal-a-vote.  People began whispering.  Jeff and Cirie begin laughing over the chaos!  "You either laugh or cry, Jeff" said Cirie.

Mr. Beast Beware Advantage:  A gold coin, heads or tails. One person will flip it and if they win, they earn immunity AND prize $$ DOUBLES!  If they LOSE, they go home.

Survivor 50: In The Hands of the Fans, Ep 5-6

 Ep 5:

Ozzy's pissed Christian and Steph left him out of the vote.

Jonathan and Devins want to target Rizzo or Cirie

Rizzo and Dee get closer, and Riz fills her in on the Billie Eilish idol.

Coach 'Tide Walker', Joe 'Stone Bell', and Colby 'Oak Bound'.

Immunity Challenge:  2 people collecting coconuts in obstacles in the water, then 1 person empties the bag to find keys.  The 4th uses the keys to unlock a box with a grappling hook.  The 5th uses the hook to retrieve sandbags. Then everyone works to land the sandbags on high platforms. ONLY ONE tribe wins Immunity.  Double Eviction Night.

Jon to the coconuts 1st, followed by Ozzy, then Joe

Jon through the logs 1st

Steph and Charlie to the coconuts, followed by Genevieve

Charlie's through the logs

Cirie has the keys, Emily opens the box, Rizzo and Angelina on the hooks

Coach has 1st sandbag

Teal tossing

Rizzo grabs the sandbags, followed by Emily

Orange gets 3 bags

Teal wins!

Rizzo wants Charlie; Charlie wants Rizzo. Kamilla is now in the middle.

Rizz tells Cirie about the idol and in turn, C tells R about her extra vote.

Christian wants Angelina; Ozzy wants to blindside Christian, and asks for his Shot in the Dark, as a token of trust.  Which, of course, sends up red flags in Christian's mind.  Ozzy pitches his idea to Emily, who in turn, tells Christian, who decides to give Oz his SITD.

Tribal Council:  Charlie or Rizzo; Christian or Angelina?

Purple: Angelina voted out, 4-1

Orange: Noooooo.....Charlie voted out, 4-3 Nooooooo.........

Ep 6:  Merge!

17 people on one beach for the next 14 days.....wow.

TWIST:  Hidden in the jungle.  Everyone looking for it.

Rizzo walked right past it!

Ozzy finds it!  Takes Rizzo with him to Exile Island.

Immunity Challenge:  Endurance while balancing between two walls, with tiny footholds.

Randomly separated into 3 groups of 5:  Winning group wins Applebees!

Genevieve, Aubrey, Christian, Devins, and Joe

Emily, Cirie, Colby, Coach, and Dee

Jonathan, Steph, Tiff, Kamilla, and Chrissy

Emily drops during 1st transition

Devins, Colby, and Jonathan drop during 2nd transition

Cirie drops.  Teal is Coach vs Dee

Coach drops; Dee wins immunity, but also drops.

Tiff, Aubrey, Joe, and Genevieve drop.  Christian wins immunity for Purple, but drops.

Orange wins Applebees.....Kamilla drops out, Steph vs Chrissy.

Chrissy drops; Steph wins!

Twist:  3 players will be voted out!

Over at Exile.....

Ozzy and Rizzo bond.  Riz tells Oz he has the 3rd idol (Cirie already told Oz).

Ozzy's taking time to breathe and to relax.

At Sanctuary.....

Tiff, Steph, Jonathan, Chrissy, and Kamilla enjoy lunch:)

Tiff wants to vote out Chrissy, since Tiff's aligned with Jon and Kamilla.

Chrissy and Steph want to vote out Kamilla, and pitch to Jon about it.

Team Purple:

Emily, Dee, and Cirie know Colby doesn't have a vote, plus he's injured.  Maybe want to vote out Coach?

Colby approaches Dee with the pitch he'll pull the others in to work with her.

Team Teal:

Aubrey says she's going to use her idol, and wants Gen out.

Gen wants to get out Devins, and pitches to Christian.

Devins think Joe is the safe vote.

Tribal Council:

#1:  Kamilla or Chrissy?

Kamilla voted out, 3-2

#2: Genevieve, Devins, or Joe?

Will Gen play her Shot in the Dark?  Yes!  Not Safe!  Will Aubrey play her idol?  NO!

Gen voted out, 4-0

#3:  Colby or Coach?

Dee was 3 years old when Colby played the 1st time!

Colby voted out, 4-0

Guess we'll find out next week how Ozzy and Rizzo react to those voted out!  We already got a sneak peek at Coach and Tiff's anger at Jon.  WOW!

Moody Contestants

So I'm rewatching SE12 of Ink Master, Battle of the Sexes.  I'm on Ep 3 and already fed up with the women's team.

First of all, Ink Master now has maybe 17 seasons now, and I've watched most of them. I've been watching them in reverse order, just because I missed a couple of seasons, and couldn't remember who won.  When I got to SE13, the one which didn't have a finale, I had to go to YouTube to see the final master canvases.  I also learned that the show had a streak of sexism in it, which was obviously blatant in the 1st elimination tat of this season.

Case In Point:  Only 2 contestants had clean tats:  An unfinished tat on the men, and a finished tat on the women.  But Oliver and Chris 'decided to go wild' and chose the best tat as the unfinished one.  Only Dave sided with the women.

Now, to the moody players.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not bashing mental health issues.  If you struggle with criticism, by all means, don't put yourself out there, and practice self-care.

But TWICE now, contestants have claimed 'mental health' as their reason for bowing out.  One guy did it in SE13, and Elva did it in SE12.  She was on the bottom and after receiving her critique, thanked the judges and said she realized she was not cut out for this competition and was excusing herself.

-Why the hell would you wait until your final critique?  The 1st guy bowed out BEFORE the critique even began!

-She already had a confrontation with one of the stronger personalities; if she was fed up, why continue?  Go get your blankie and go home.  You knew what you were signing up for; grow a thick skin and compete.

But she's not the only one.  Ash is constantly complaining about the other women on her team, and even getting fed up with one of the men's egos.  Her constant pout is really grating on me at the moment.  And in Ep 3, her lack of confidence is really irritating. Is it your time of the month?

Cam and Ash.....go get a room and get over this tension already!  You're like Sam and Diane.

Ash, pull your damn jacket or shirt up over your shoulder!  It looks sloppy dangling down, with one up and one down. Congratulations, you live to compete another week.

Ep 4:  Oooh Laura,,,,consorting with the enemy?  Telling Cam he's a damn good artist and you're not threatened by him?  What will your teammates say?  *insert sarcasm*

Ooooh, Ash....'tattoo is washed out, looks like it's 15 years old.'

Ep 5:  Ooooh Cam....got caught 'helping' Laura with her tat?

Then there's Pony's canvas.....in pain and decides she doesn't care for Pony's 'bedside manner'???  You signed up for the free tat, chick.  Sit your ass down and let her finish!

Oh jeez Ash....your sarcastic attitude toward Janelle is irritating.

LOL....Alexis called her out for a face off!  BUT, Ash delivered, while the others had issues.  In the end, Pony went home.

I finally realized WHY Ash drives me nuts; she reminds me of AOC.

Ep 6:  Ash didn't understand cross-stitch??  Yet she survives again.

I'm also pissed.....Dani did the BEST cross-stitch tattoo; Dave even SAID a lot of people are going to want it, but they gave Tattoo of the Day to Cam and his Atari Video-Game-inspired look?  *eye roll*

Ep 7:  Another face-off, and surprise, surprise, Ash picked Cam!  He beat her, but she ultimately beat Tito in Japanese Traditional Hanya masks.

Tito:  "She's got more lives like a cat!"

Ep 8:  Alexis tries to talk Ash off the ledge, figuratively.

Laura finds herself aligned with Cam and Creepy Jason, which creates conflict, b/c the other girls want Cam to be eliminated.

Alexis wins Tattoo of the Day!  1st time the women are in charge of elimination nom!

First time Ash is NOT in the bottom!  Jake, Cam, and Fon.....who will be eliminated?  Fon leaves, due to the fact he had to rush and made some serious mistakes (upside down horseshoe, boot running into existing tat).

Ep 9:  Laura, Laura, Laura.....don't go talking about your friendship with Cam and Jason within earshot of Holly and Ash.....they're gonna target you!!!  Ash and Holly went to Pon and Jake to complain they felt targeted b/c they're friends, when that WAS NOT THE CASE!  Don't jump to conclusions, little girl....

"I don't like to draw on the skin...it's so hard....I don't like it...." (insert whine)

Good for Janelle for shutting down the alliance thing that Holly and Ash misconstrued, but also called out Laura, Cam, and Jason for their plans to be final 3, which blew everyone's minds.

Alexis, what did you do to your hair?  It looks sooooooo much better when it's curly!

Laura cleared up the 'I wasn't talking shit about Holly' rumor, but confirmed her friendship with Jason and Cam was NOT an 'alliance'; it was FRIENDSHIP.

With six women and four men, the women have really come into their own....now if they can curb the paranoia and catty tendancies.....

Ash can take her pouty-ass self home!  Whoot!

Score:  5-4

Ep 10:  Why does Janelle wear a headlamp when no one else does?

Thank you Holly for talking Laura down off the insecurity ledge, and psychoanalyzing Cam!

Score:  4-4; bye-bye Alexis with her purple hair.

Ep 11:  Score 3-4 Bye-bye Janelle

Ep 12:  Laura's pissed because she didn't get picked to do a tattoo.  Only 4 canvases chose, based on the 1st tats the artists did earlier. Jason got a Japanese frog; Holly a new school bearded dragon , Jake the Koala bear, and Dani the Athena.  Jason is the ONLY one safe from elimination.

How the hell does Holly get the ax?  Cam did two similar tats!  Not fair.

Score: 2-4

Ep 13:  How many tank tops/cardigans does Dani own? And why does Cam seem to wear the same tee all the time?  Lucky shirt?  Holly wore the same leopard print dress several times.

Cam gets to close shop.

Score:  2-3

Ep 14:  Illustrative Portrait Day:  Laura's worried; Pon's worried.  Pon packs up.  Score 2-2

Ep 15:  Face off:  Laura:  Jake's Plague Dr; Jason:  Laura's Alien holding a space galaxy;

Dani:  Jason's Broccoli Wizard; Jake:  Dani's Witch.

Laura and Dani made the finale, along with Jason.

Jake packed up shop.

Score:  2-1

Finale:  Jason, last man standing:  B/G realism

              Laura:  Traditional Japanese

              Dani:  Full Color Biomech

Give it a rest, Ash...(to Alexis):  'You never really had my back..('I had your back, except that one time when I put you in the bottom') See???"

Jason:  Female pirate, which I think wins.  It's so clear!

Laura:  Japanese god of thunder, which for me, is hard to see.

Dani:  Biomechanical, which looks cluttered, imho.

WOW.....they eliminated JASON???

Winner:  LAURA!  Chris and Oliver voted for her; Dave went with Dani.

Battle of the Coaches:  Ryan, DJ, Duffy, Bubba, Megan Jean, Nikki, and Jimmy

Winner:  Ryan!!!!

DJ-2nd

Nikki-3rd

Bubba-4th

Duffy-5th

Jimmy-6th

Megan-7th
