Saturday's Stupid Saying

Currently Reading: Marriage Proposal and Tribute For the Goddess arrived yesterday! I reread Tribute, and discovered I'd actually made it farther through the book than originally thought before the disk crashed on me:) Good job, Brynn! I also reread a portion of MPR and can't wait to give it to my mom! I've already raved about the 'poking', and Mom's looking forward to it.

I'm up to page 152 on the One Touch, One Glance antho. Some stories are fantastic, and others nearly have me in tears. I'm going to have to investigate more author's websites to find their back lists. Great job, ladies!

I thought this was appropriate, since this past week was our last day of school!

Chats
When I first joined the yahoo groups, chats were popular. In fact, my kids complained during my first official chat, because they weren't used to only seeing the back of my head for an entire evening. Being the chat virgin, I tried to respond to many posts with questions or comments. And my TBB list grew to an enormous proportion.

As the weeks went on, I continued to read every digest, but soon found myself skimming over them, looking for authors I knew. Sometimes the email was deleted without even being read. And soon I was invited to join other groups, and soon was so overwhelmed with email digests, I simply started deleting them without even opening it. I have a few favorites I checked in daily, but for the most part, I concentrated on my writing and blogging.

When edits occurred, I went 'No Mail' on nearly all my loops, but now I've ventured back. I've attended maybe five chats in the past several months, and I've noticed participation has dropped off. I had a blast with only two or three of the chats, with steamy excerpts, fun questions, enjoyable conversations. But on a few chats, the authors seemed to post and run, too busy to chat. One chat was even cut short because nobody showed up except myself.

So my question is, have authors decided that chatting doesn't build sales? Are we too busy to talk to potential readers? Has blogging become the new chatting?

And yes, I still get the 'You're not working; you're on the computer!' complaints. 'Are you getting paid?' 'How do you know you're selling any books?' And when I stepped away briefly to get a drink of tea, my 17-yr-old sat down to answer the phone and nearly choked when he saw the links at the end of the page!

'Mom...at the bottom of your chat, there are links to online sex sites!' and began reading them to his buddy on the other end.

'I don't look at those, and besides, you're not over age eighteen and female.'

(To his buddy) 'My mom's on a chat loop and there's porn on it! Yeah...she writes it too.'

Teenage boys...

Have no idea what we're doing today. With the spouse home and the kids home, I've lost track of what day it is! Hopefully next week will be better. I've not even been on my FaceBook site much this week!

We did get some good news from the hall: When this wet system gets out of here, there's enough construction jobs to clear both the A and B boards (hubby's #53 on the A board!)! So rain, rain, go away...you can rain anywhere in Indiana EXCEPT for the job site!

In other news...
Oreo was neutered on Thursday, and came home yesterday:) Poor cat looks at us accusingly and spent nearly the entire day curled up in his favorite window.

Kids are now out of school and daugher has already been to the pool.

W had his first playdate and has been invited back:) On the night-time potty-traing, we reluctantly returned to the overnight diapers, since he managed to shove the plastic aside two nights in a row. We are definitely going to need a new couch soon...remember that Seinfeld episode? We're also investigating some sort of trundle/rollaway bed for him.

Have a good weekend!

Jamie, Danica, Helio, and Family

I told you I would share some pics of my weekend, so here's a sample.

Saturday: Author Jamie Carie signing copies of her 3rd book, Wind Dancer for me. We were at the Rendezvous, and she signed with an ink quill.

Sunday: Indianapolis 500:) This is (L-R) Raphael Matos, Alex Lloyd (pink uniform), and Danica Patrick.

For the first time since Danica entered the 500, we were able to see her pit clearly!

Lap #137: Fire in Vitor Meira's car. If I'd been thinking, I would have turned on the video feature on my camera. I thought I'd gotten a picture of the flames, but no such luck. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, and Vitor was able to return to the race while his crew cleaned up the mess.

Just a picture of the mural, commemorating the 100th year of the track.

L-R: Rick, his son, Carter, and my cousin Harold (green shirt). Harold and crew arrived right before the National Anthem and left before Helio pulled in to Victory Lane. I hadn't seen him since he was 11 years old, and was disappointed we didn't get to chat or even take a better picture!

Helio climbed the fence right in front of us! This was his 3rd win at Indy.

Helio was thrilled with his new Pace Car!

Me, with my parents. We arrived at the track at 8:30 am, and were not under shade until noon. The race began at 1pm, and we were home by 7pm, just in time to watch the recap on ABC. We got to see all the activity we couldn't see from the front straightaway.
I wore my 'Smart Women Read Romance...and I Write It!" tee, but no one commented on it, so don't know if I inspired anyone around me to take note of the website or not! A kid a few rows in front of me had on his Senior Shirt with the photographer's site on the back. And since my website is still not cooperating, who knows if anyone will try to check it out?
Home Again!
Monday: No pictures, since we all slept late. Ate lunch at Applebee's, bought K some shorts, shoes, socks, and a new T-shirt, and returned home to nap and pack.
Mom had a gift certificate for Amazon.com, so I went online and bought Kelly Kirch's Marriage Proposal (turns out she she didn't know how to order from Amazon, Kell...but it is now on the way!), Christine Duncan's Safe Beginnings, Wendi Christnor's The Water Bearer, and Brynn Paulin's Tribute For The Goddess. I have Brynn's e-copy, but the disk was damaged. K and I drove home at 6pm.
I'm off to do Laundry Goddess duties. Spouse was laid off Friday, so he's home and we hope the hall calls him for another job SOON! Kids still have school today and tomorrow.

Saturday's Stupid Saying

A 'Duh' Moment...
For Use On Animals Only.
warning label on an electric cattle prod

I'm off to the races! Making a quick stop through the Rendezvous festival to meet Jamie Carie and pick up an autographed copy of Wind Dancer. She's going to be in period costume and signing with a quill pen and ink!

Have a good weekend. Don't know if I'll post tomorrow or Monday, so remember your loved ones.

Sid and Marty Kroft, Anyone??

First of all, Kenzie picked her winner of the free download:

Bronwyn Green!

Congratulations!

No, I've Apparently NOT Lost My Mind!
Ever have this happen to you? A word, phrase, name, anything just suddenly pop into your head, and you just KNOW this isn't something you've made up?

It's happened to me a few times, and I'm so thankful to say, some of the mysteries are being validated!

First it was the Osmund's rendition of 'Crazy Horses'. I could only remember the chorus, and was about to chalk it up to another 'misunderstood lyric', when Oprah did a special, or PBS...anyway, there were my beloved childhood Osmunds, with grainy file footage of that song!

A few years back, on one of those anything-goes radio shows, I heard the song 'I'm My Own Grandpa' and I knew I'd heard it somewhere, because I knew the lyrics. Again, after a few weeks of trying to remember, I gave up and decided I'd heard it on some obscure country station in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, or Florida.

Guess what? Remember I'm now watching the first season of The Muppet Show? You guessed it...on Disc #2, there are the Muppets, singing the song! My daughter looked at me and thought I was crazy when I cranked up the volume.

And then there was the day TBS or TNT ran a Sid and Mary Kroft marathon. It was taking place in the middle of the night back in 1996 or 7, so I set up the VCR (remember those?) to record it.

Sigmund and the Sea Monster, HR Pufinstuff, and a concert with the Brady Kids.

And now on Memorial Day, an 8 hour marathon of Land of the Lost on Sci-Fi channel, since Will Farrell has made a movie based on that show. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch all of it, and my DVR only has about 3 hours left on it. Unless I delete my Survivor episodes...hmmm...there's a thought...

But the point I wanted to make was I vaguely remember the Slestaks, and Cha-Ka, although those words sometime pop up in my brain (don't ask why!). And when I read the episode summaries, I can hardly believe how hokey they are! But the again, I was 8, 9, and 10 during that time.

And got up every Saturday morning to watch it, along with the Bugs Bunny-Roadrunner Hour.

It's releasing on DVD this week or next...I may have to get it just for fun.

Now if they'd only release Captain Kool and the Kongs? The Bay City Rollars show? I don't remember the wacky Kongs...by the time I was actively watching, there was only the Captain and three others. And my sister and I both wished we could be on stage with the hunky Captain...

Maybe I'm going through Childhood Classic TV Nostalgia? My kids have no idea what 'good' TV is, hahahaha...

Thursday Stuff

Currently Reading: Finished Kaenar's Something Naughty This Way Comes. Verrrrry hot! Go over to Total-E-Bound and pick up a copy for yourselves!
Checked my TBB list: The One Touch, One Glance Anthology is next, followed by Stone and Sea! I'll get them tomorrow.

Watching the news this morning, I decided a certain reality show needs to call it quits, if only for the sake of the minor children involved. The adults need to get their personal lives back under control; otherwise, they risk the disintegraation of their family.

I was thrilled to learn Shawn Johnson won Dancing With The Stars (I can't get ABC, so can't watch it), and since I don't follow American Idol, except for the results, I was neither upset nor happy that Kris beat out Adam.

Only FOUR school days left! I've decided I'm going to stick with the 6:30 wake-up time and get my lazy butt to the walking path every morning. I guess it wouldn't be prudent to stop at the bakery afterwards for a latte and a bagal? Treat myself to a Denny's Grand Slam? I'll come home to a bowl of Cap'n Crunch.

Last day to enter for a chance to win Kenzie's book! Simply leave a comment here, or over at Kenzie's Place and I'll draw for a winner tonight.

In fact, let me tease you a little...

Blurb: When Amber Johnson agrees to fill in as a last-minute chef of a dinner party, she is surprised to learn the client is none other than her ex-boyfriend, Marc Denton. The kitchen sizzles with their unfinished business; will the flames of love reignite, or will Marc’s scheming father succeed in keeping them apart?

Marc and Amber are furious when they discover lies that have kept them apart for three years. With Amber by his side again, will Marc find the courage to stand up to his father and hold on to his true love?

Excerpt:
“Shhh….” She bent down to kiss him. “Morning.”

“Morning,” he yawned. “What the hell….” He tugged his left hand.

She intercepted his right hand as he reached for her breast and bound it to the end of the blue belt. “I’m holding you hostage for a few moments. Is it okay?”

Marc grinned warily, shifting onto his back. “What are you doing?”

Amber pushed the blankets aside and straddled him. “Just relax.” She kissed him lightly, the tips of her breasts grazing his chest. She nipped at his jaw line and rubbed her cheek against his morning stubble. “You always have that dark and dangerous look in the morning.”

“That’s me; dark and dangerous,” he echoed. “Is that why you tied me up?”

“Every time you touch me, I melt,” she complained good-naturedly. “So, I made sure you couldn’t touch me until I had my way with you.”

“You begged me to touch you last night,” he reminded her, groaning when she sucked lightly on his neck. “Am…, no hickies….”

“Don’t worry. I won’t leave any marks.” She moved lower, scraping her teeth over his flat nipples, hearing him gasp. “Like that?”

Marc closed his eyes. She was the only one who had ever loved his whole body. The women he’d had in the past three years, besides his ex-wife, were only interested in his hard cock.
Amber felt his member swelling against her inner thigh and smiled to herself. But this was her show; she wasn’t going to let him rush her. She moved to his other nipple, giving it the same attention as the first. Her hands passed lovingly over his ribs, stroking the light fur tapering off from his naval to his groin area.

Marc flexed his arms as she repositioned her body lower. “Am…, my arms are going numb.”

“Just keep doing finger flicks,” she instructed, and licked her way to the base of his swollen cock, beads of pre-cum bubbling to its surface. She gave it a perfunctory kiss, dipping her finger into the moisture and tasting him. “Hmmm,” she said playfully. “Someone had chicken, rice, and whiskey last night.”

“Very funny,” he said testily. “You fed me. Now hurry up!”

“Naughty, naughty,” she scolded, sliding a finger between his balls and watching his cock twitch. “Impatient, are we?”

“I didn’t inflict this much torture on you last night,” he panted. “I believe you said ‘Fuck me’? So put your mouth on me.”

“Say ‘please’.”

Marc swore under his breath. “Please.”

She turned her head and licked his inner thigh from groin to knee.

“Amber!” he bellowed.

Kenzie's Been Interviewed!

Currently Reading: Finished Marriage Proposal by Kelly Kirch and COULD. NOT. STOP. LAUGHING! There's a running joke all the way through the book that will keep you in stitches! Fasten your seat belt; I nearly fell out of the chair several times! Definitely a Recommended Read, and a fine end to this trilogy! Today, I'm rewarding myself with Kaenar Langford's Something Naughty This Way Comes. And Friday, time to buy another round of e-books. I'll have to check to see what's up next. I think Ms Pape's Stone and Sea is coming up...

Winner will be announced Friday morning. How to enter? Leave a comment here or at Kenzie's Place, or even the above interview, and I'll put all names in the hat and draw one lucky winner.

Even better news?
My good friend Travis has finally gotten a release date for his horror Anthology of the Living Dead, due out August 1st! I'm planning to interview him in a week or so...if I can get him to cooperate:)

He and I seem to be in synch, creatively speaking. Every time I have good news to report, things in his world go smoothly as well:) Okay....waiting for my next contract now...

What am I doing today while Kenzie is floating on Cloud 9?
-Laundry
-Scrubbing down my kitchen cabinets. They're looking grungy.
-Phone consultation concerning promo and website issues:)
