Sid and Marty Kroft, Anyone??

First of all, Kenzie picked her winner of the free download:

Bronwyn Green!

Congratulations!

No, I've Apparently NOT Lost My Mind!
Ever have this happen to you? A word, phrase, name, anything just suddenly pop into your head, and you just KNOW this isn't something you've made up?

It's happened to me a few times, and I'm so thankful to say, some of the mysteries are being validated!

First it was the Osmund's rendition of 'Crazy Horses'. I could only remember the chorus, and was about to chalk it up to another 'misunderstood lyric', when Oprah did a special, or PBS...anyway, there were my beloved childhood Osmunds, with grainy file footage of that song!

A few years back, on one of those anything-goes radio shows, I heard the song 'I'm My Own Grandpa' and I knew I'd heard it somewhere, because I knew the lyrics. Again, after a few weeks of trying to remember, I gave up and decided I'd heard it on some obscure country station in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, or Florida.

Guess what? Remember I'm now watching the first season of The Muppet Show? You guessed it...on Disc #2, there are the Muppets, singing the song! My daughter looked at me and thought I was crazy when I cranked up the volume.

And then there was the day TBS or TNT ran a Sid and Mary Kroft marathon. It was taking place in the middle of the night back in 1996 or 7, so I set up the VCR (remember those?) to record it.

Sigmund and the Sea Monster, HR Pufinstuff, and a concert with the Brady Kids.

And now on Memorial Day, an 8 hour marathon of Land of the Lost on Sci-Fi channel, since Will Farrell has made a movie based on that show. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch all of it, and my DVR only has about 3 hours left on it. Unless I delete my Survivor episodes...hmmm...there's a thought...

But the point I wanted to make was I vaguely remember the Slestaks, and Cha-Ka, although those words sometime pop up in my brain (don't ask why!). And when I read the episode summaries, I can hardly believe how hokey they are! But the again, I was 8, 9, and 10 during that time.

And got up every Saturday morning to watch it, along with the Bugs Bunny-Roadrunner Hour.

It's releasing on DVD this week or next...I may have to get it just for fun.

Now if they'd only release Captain Kool and the Kongs? The Bay City Rollars show? I don't remember the wacky Kongs...by the time I was actively watching, there was only the Captain and three others. And my sister and I both wished we could be on stage with the hunky Captain...

Maybe I'm going through Childhood Classic TV Nostalgia? My kids have no idea what 'good' TV is, hahahaha...

This lady not only has info, but if you look, you can download entire albums, including this one. She doesn't clearly mark her links but they are there.

Thanks Pat...spent nearly 2 hours on YouTube! Brought back some wonderful memories:)

I had TOTALLY forgotten it was the Kroft Supershow, and found myself singing along!

OMG...Magic Mumbo...Bigfoot and Wild Boy...anyone remember Electro Woman and DynaGirl?? Why didn't VCRs exist back then??? Hell, probably wouldn't have recorded them, but still...
