Traditional Vs 'New and Improved'

Does anyone remember when McDonald's restaurant looked like this?  We had one in our town when I was growing up, but the majority of them looked like this:

And now the Powers That Be have decided to 'modernize' the one in town:

I don't know about you, but I hate it.  Why mess with perfection tradition?  I want my old McD's back!

And yes, I've been a bad blogger again.  In my defense, I've been busy writing and doing other stuff.  Yeah, my time management has sucked this week.  I get up, get the youngling off to school, watch the news until 9am, then get online.  By 10:30-11am, I'm done with facebook and checking my emails....I might even read a blog or two (usually click the link from FB or email).  Then it's get off; get dressed, make the bed, eat lunch, take the daughter to school, and then do the dishes.  By 1pm I'm back online to check FB and email again, and then write for an hour or two.  The SU has been sick, so I've been picking up the kids in the afternoon.  I might write for another hour, and then it's time to get dinner ready; the youngling to whatever practice or Cub Scouts; and then the nightly TV show.  Daughter has been taking over my laptop, so I'll check my email and FB again around 10pm, right before bedtime.  So yes, this site has taken a back seat again this week.  But things are slowing down, so I should be back on the regular schedule once more.

I actually planned this post two weeks ago, but didn't get around to taking a picture of our local Mack Shack until Monday!  Couldn't find any pics on photo bucket.

What's your take?  Which one is 'your' McDonald's?

I think it's all of a piece with the changing menu, etc. Modernize or lose customers...

I like the old McD's.

I like the old Mickey D's. Plus, I'm not digging the menu either.

Having worked in both the old and the new school McDonald's, I have to say I prefer the new ones! One of the updated ones near me is "updated" in the retro style, though, with the enormous arches that go over the building. It looks really cool.

Wouldn't mind the outside staying the same and have the updates on the inside. Mainly to appliances, cash registers and such. I like the old arches.

I like the new and improved equipment; I just don't like the way the building LOOKS! Give me back the middle building; that's what McDonald's is supposed to look like:) In my opinion, the new one looks like it shrank.

It also has fewer places to sit, and they did away with the play area several years ago, which I wasn't happy with either, having a young child. I do like the free wifi, and enjoyed sitting in the 'sunroom'. I also like the electric fireplace of the 'lounge' area.

They're gotta keep up with other food chains, and making a change always interests people.
We always seem to get the same things, and don't try the new stuff...set in our ways!

it's been a long time since any Mc D's looked like the first pic. I was at one today, I liked the good, especially the daily double they have on the menu

I want to know why the golden arch has flatlined? Me, I've eaten twice in my life at a McDonalds--once at the first 1 opened in Paris--customers were outraged they didn't offer wine & sure enough they came out with wine in those little waxed paper triangles we used to get our milk in in elementary school... @Marianne: 'Back in the good ol' days...' my sis and I always ordered hamburgers plain, which they had to special order and write on slips of paper to hand to the grill cook. My sis and I were amazed when we were in Atlanta; the worker seemed clueless when we ordered. We told her how to order it....and in college, went through a phase where I'd order Big Macs plain:)

And when they came out with the grilled chicken, I ordered it until I got a fatty one twice in a row. Now I stick with the McNuggets; they're easy to eat while driving, and McD's had better not EVER change their fries! And I especially love their sweet tea:)

@Meredith: Wine at McD's? LOL....that would be interesting....

I don't care what the McDonald's looks like...just as ;long as they don't change or screw up my SWEET TEA!!! If they mess with that, they are in deep pucky! LOL!
