We must keep our ears to the ground if we want to keep our heads above water.

The final arrangements for my BFF's mom have been made. I'm leaving tomorrow for the viewing and the funeral is to be Monday morning. I'm staying over one more night to be with her. A mini-vacation for me, and some long-overdue quality time for us. I think the last time we had an occasion to talk for any length of time in person was in 2006! Sad it takes a funernal to bring us back together with our hectic lives, but when I told her I was staying over after the funeral, she broke down and cried. "Thank you...."
Out of the mouths of babes!!
I received this email a few days ago and decided to repost it here. Enjoy!
What Love means to a 4-8 year old . . ...
Slow down for three minutes to read this.
It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of babes.
A group of professional people posed this question to a
group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone
could have imagined See what you think:
'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend
over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'

And the final one
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an
elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's
yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy
said,
'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

These are great! :)
My fave is the one about the toilet:)
My condolences for your BFF and her family.
Why does it so often take a funeral or a wedding for fmaily and friends to get together? The last time my mom's family had a "reunion" it was at my cousin's wedding (better than a funeral). My mom's family is going to have a reunion this July and try to do it every year from now on. It's in Ohio where most of them still live. I'm going to do my best to go to that and Lori Foster's event in June. One will have to be a long weekend as it's hard to get off work so much so close together.
Are you going to Lori Foster's event this summer? I just signed up for it. I've been working out on the Wii and hopefully will lose at least a couple sizes before then. :)
'Nothing, I just helped him cry' Maybe we need more kids to help us cry...
