Grand Opening!
Our Local Author section.....
Mockingbird Book Emporium is in a building which first used to be Felton's Tavern. We've since learned there was also gambling in the back room, and 'ladies' who would come down the stairs from the above apartment and choose their clients.
Fellow authors and good friends BC Brown and J Travis Grundon, standing behind the original bar, which is over one hundred years old, and the original smoked glass mirror.
Myself, BC, Travis, his daughter Lilyana, and BC's niece Ashlae at the beginning of the ribbon cutting ceremony. Lily was overheard saying the huge scissors wouldn't cut!
The actual cutting of the ribbon; Travis wondered if Lily thought she actually cut it:)
The cutting of the cake....
The Mayor and his wife were in attendance
Author Joe Schwartz spoke about his road to publication and sold several copies of his book, Joe's Black T-Shirt St. Louis Stories.
Saturday was a long day, but we had a good turnout, and sales continue to be steady:) I met a man on Sunday who bought one of my books 'just because' I was there and he could get it autographed.
Come back tomorrow for a glimpse of another XOXO author, Timothy Spearman:)
