Another Excerpt

Updated Word count: 1739:) I did it! It's nearly 12:30; I'm going downstairs to check on the status of my last load before the damn alarm wakes me up at 3:30...hubby leaves at 4:30. Which means...I'm going to be semi-sleep deprived again...and W does NOT have school, as it is the observance of Veteren's Day. Maybe he and I can take an early nap? Busy day planned for all about it when I post it tomorrow:)

Word count: 1756 this morning, to make up for yesterday...was only at 356 when I gave up and went to bed. It's 10 pm; am still doing laundry and trying to get as close to that 1600 word count as I can before I go to bed.

Not much to say today. Stayed up too late last night, getting my word count in and procrastinating by emailing another author friend when I should have bee working:) Needless to say, I barely accomplished my goal...1628. I should be closer to the 20,000 goal, and I'm just barely at 17,000. Maybe I'll get with the program later today.

Was contemplating posting this earlier, but was sidetracked by picking up BSA popcorn; watching my Beverly Hills 90210 reruns (the one with Color Me Badd was on today!!), and showering, since I have to drive to Evansville in less than an hour for a college scholorship/grant info meeting with my sophomore.

Hubby's coming home tonight; he's bringing me several flats of non-perishible items from my favorite generic store up north that isn't down here. I'm providing him with BBQ ribs and homemade bread (okay, the dough is frozen, but it's sooooo good!) for dinner. Speaking of which, I need to get busy and fire up the slow-cooker!

So I may get my word count goal tonight; I may have to do some serious catching up next week. We'll just have to see how things work out.

Here's another excerpt from Love Finds a Way...Enjoy:)

Amy climbed into the truck and they took off for his home in Brookview. After telephoning her whereabouts to her roommate Caty, she turned back to Matt and blushed, conscious of her scruffy attire: Sweaty t-shirt, shorts, and wind-blown hair.

"If I'd known you were coming back tonight, I'd have never gone on that run," she flushed. "Look at me. I'm almost scared to talk to you!"

"You're still beautiful," he said, handing her a glass of 7-Up. "Why are you scared?"

"I don't know."

Matt sat down beside her on the beige loveseat. He took a swallow of his drink and put it down. Amy had put hers on the coffee table, and when she straightened up, Matt took her in his arms, and they clung together. Matt's lips moved from her cheek to her ear. Amy shivered with anticipation, and began kissing his neck. Suddenly, she realized the front door was open.

"Not here."

"How come?"

"For one thing, the door's wide open, and secondly, what if your mom were to come home and catch us in a compromising position?"

Matt pulled away, shut the door, and lay down on the floor. "Could you give me one of your famous backrubs?"

"Sure." Amy smiled, flexed her fingers, and knelt beside him. Quickly and expertly, she massaged, rubbed, and pounded on his back. Matt rolled over and pulled her down to him.

“God, but I’ve missed you,” he muttered, running his hands up her back, pulling her T-shirt out of her shorts. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you after you’d left.”

“Anything in particular?” she teased, breathless from his long kisses.

“Just this...” He pulled her shirt up and slid his lips to her breast, impatiently shoving her bra cup aside.

“Matt...on the floor?” she asked weakly, embarrassed by the fact she’d not had a shower. What had possessed her to jog on the night he came home? She pushed him away when his hands slid to her shorts. “Stop...I’m all sweaty...”

“That’s okay, sweetheart. We’ll both be sweaty in a moment...” He jumped up, grabbed her hand, and pulled her up the stairs to his room.

Later, they lay with their arms around each other. Matt kissed her, then went downstairs for their now warm drinks. “I put some more ice in them,” he explained, handing her the glass, then slid in beside her again. “Now this is the life; my woman keeping the bed warm.” He smiled saucily at her.

“How long are you on leave?” she inquired, pulling the covers around her.

“Two weeks. Just like last time.”

“I hope we can spend more time together this time,” she said shyly, lowering her eyes.
“I plan on it, dear. I certainly plan on it.” Matt took a big swallow of his drink.

90210? Never saw this show - it seemed too angst filled and yuppy American...but if you are watching re-runs there must be something to it?

I completely missed the first 3 seasons because they came on at the same time as my new hubby's shows...and no VCR in our early married life. And TiVo hadn't been invented yet!

Started catching every episode about season 4 or 5...

And got mad at Aaron Spelling because he 'stole' my idea and put it on TV, hahahahahahaha...
