Welcome! Please introduce yourself and tell us about your latest release.

Thank you for having me. I’m Kiera Thomas, an erotic romance author. My very first release is titled “Galinn.” It’s an erotic, horror, fantasy love story with lots of colorful and a few dark characters. The main hero in this book is a warrior named “Galinn.” There is so much going on in this story. A creature, called an Alp, breaks through the forbidden world and ends up in Kentucky. Three warriors are sent to bring back the heart of the Alp. Galinn falls in love but the Alp also wants to mate with Galinn’s love interest.

Have you ever had an idea for a story which scared you after you began writing it?

This book did bother me for a few days. The physical description of the Alp is very dark and creepy, which is what I wanted but to put it into words to describe something that is not from this world that’s just full of hate and darkness isn’t easy. Spending so much time trying to describe the creature just right probably gave me a nightmare.

Have you incorporated actual events from your own life into your books?

I did, no I’m not crazy-I think, but I had an out of body experience once. So….I put an out of body experience in this book.

How much research do you do? Do you research first and then write, or do you write first, then research as needed?

I thought about this book for a long time. I actually rewrote it three times. I did a lot of research because there are actual places in “Galinn”. The Fitchburg Furnace is a historical place in Kentucky. I actually went there and took notes, went all over Irvine, Kentucky. Irvine is one of the towns in the book. I research first then I write at least for this book. I found out if I research first, especially visiting places I can come up with more descriptive details and find things to add in the story that I wouldn’t of if I hadn’t visited the places.

Is there any message you want readers to take from reading your work?

Not really, it’s just a fast pace read. There is no time to get bored, something is always happening.

Are you a plotter or a pantser? And have you ever had a story take on a life of its own?

Most of the time the story takes on a life of it’s own. I start out with a couple characters and while I’m writing my mind tells me to add other characters. My books seem to have more than two characters in it which helps make a faster pace book. “Galinn” goes from one scene to another, back and forth.

How long did it take for you to be published?

Two weeks, not long. I sent it out to only two publishers. The publisher I really was hoping to pick it up did, eXcessica Publishing accepted it within two weeks after submitting it. I couldn’t believe it, this was the publisher I really wanted and to have it happen was really exciting.

If you could go back and tell yourself anything when you first began your writing career, what would you say?

Why didn’t I do it sooner, that’s what I would say to myself.

Laptop or pen and ink? What are your ‘must-haves’ when writing?

Laptop-I must have my thesaurus, dictionary, internet and silence. Some writers like to listen to music but I have to have total silence or my mind can’t work.

Who are your favorite authors? Who would you say influenced you the most?

My favorite authors are Shayla Black, Sarah McCarty, Erin McCarthy, Nina Bangs. Probably Shayla Black, she can write some hot books. She has the gift to write the best sex scenes. Her characters are so colorful.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a 46 year old college student majoring in English/Creative Writing, grandmother of 1.5 and mother of three.

What is your Prom story?

My prom story. That was a looooong time ago. I wore this pink gown with spaghetti straps. The straps broke, one at a time that night. Luckily the dress didn’t fall, but it wasn’t the most pleasant memory.

Favorite Mother’s Day memory?

Last year I had all three kids home. My oldest two are grown, one married the other engaged and the better halves were with them. The house was full of kids, grown and small. That’s was the happiest day I’ve had in a long time.

If you have children, does the end of school signal loss of writing time for you?

Yes, I only have one child home and he’s twelve. My child is high functioning autistic and can be very loud. There are days when he so quite but other days it sounds like I have twenty stampeding kids in my home when there is only one. He is a blessing to have, loud but a blessing. Most of my writing is done when he is in school.
