HDH #27: Halloween 'Trick'?

Since tomorrow is Halloween, I decided to give you a break from Hunter and Kayla, and post a Halloween scene.  But first, click here for more Hump Day Fun.

This is one of my favorite scenes from Book #5, Endless Love.  After Caitlyn temporarily breaks up with Bryan, she gains the attention of Peter Criswell.  He attempts to woo her by taking Caty and her bff Amy to a Haunted House on Halloween.  Enjoy!

When everyone was dressed, all makeup in place, they went to the lobby where Gretchen’s boyfriend, Troy Anderson, waited. Dressed in a black suit and tie and carrying a tinfoil microphone, he whistled with appreciation at the sight of the three girls, identically dressed in black miniskirts, black turtlenecks, black hose, and matching pumps. In stark contrast, Amy wore a pink hoop skirted formal and wide brimmed straw hat. Caitlyn sported a white blouse, denim jumper, red pumps, and carried a picnic basket.

Troy shook his head. “What are you two supposed to be? I thought I’d be surrounded by five backup singers.”

“She’s Dorothy, and I’m Glinda, the Good Witch.” Amy pirouetted. “Shall we go?”

Troy bowed and gestured with his microphone for the girls to precede him out the door. The group trooped over to Berkely Hall and spent the next hour going door to door on all three floors. Afterward, plastic sacks bulging, they returned to the lobby to find Peter outside, waiting beside his car. Caty made the introductions then Amy and Caty climbed inside Peter’s car and drove to the Sigma Pi fraternity house. Peter paid their admission and they toured the haunted house. All went well until the end when Caty was collecting her bag of candy from one of the fraternity members and overheard Amy ask for an ice pack.

“My God, are you all right?” Caty noticed her swelling nose.

“It’s okay, nothing’s broken. Did you see the idiot in the Frankenstein costume? He popped me when he jumped out.” Amy wiped her eyes.

“I’m a med student, let me take a look.” One of the Pi’s handed her a baggie full of ice.

“Thank you. Just tell the guy behind the door to watch what he’s doing. Come on, guys.” Skirts swishing and holding the plastic baggie to her face, Amy turned and went out the door before a crowd could form.

For more of this party, head over to Kenzie's Place:)
