Morning Chuckle

Word Count: 2634. Finally...more than 300 words at a time:)

Talked to my mother last night. She's ordered a couple of my books from Borders, and she received a phone call saying that Love is Sober came in, but not Love Finds a Way.

Reason?

"It's too old; it must be out of print."

My mother gently corrected her, saying, "I beg to differ. It came out last week. I know there are other books with that same title, but only one by Molly Daniels! Could you please try again?"

I don't know if she revealed that it was her daughter's book or not, but Mom called me to ask about the publication date! She also told me she was thrilled to read the interview with AJ back on Wed, and wondered, "How do people 'talk' to you on the site?""

"Hit the 'comment' button, Mom. And then get either a Google or Blogger account. It's free, and you can comment on how brilliant your daughter comes across in written form:)"

Switching gears, AJ commented last night she doesn't understand my fascination with Beverly Hills 90210. This show came out in 1989 or early 1990, when I was on my own for the first time, and a) had little time to watch TV, except for Monday Night Football and Twin Peaks; and b) the idiot I was dating was a control freak and if I chose to watch anything he called 'fluff TV', he found ways to make me miss the program. I kid you not; in college, we had to read the book 'Common Ground', all about the Boston bussing issue in the mid-1960's. One of the networks aired the movie, and I wanted to watch it. He sat beside me, making comments, until I stupidly decided to voice one of my problems with the Catholic Church (The birth control issue). He, a devout Catholic, who was a 25-year-old virgin at the time, promptly ripped into me about my 'slutty past behavior' and that I should promptly convert to Catholism in order to save my 'tarnished soul' from eternal damnation!

Needless to say, it wasn't long after that fight that I had the locks changed on my apartment and with the help of his brother, moved everything belonging to him back to the family farm!

And no, I never did see the end of the movie. And, I might add, my TV at the time was a 13" black and white portable, and I had no cable or satelite, and no VCR at the time!

And when I married in May 1991, the show conflicted with my new hubby's favorite show, so like any good newlywed, I let him watch his show. And it wasn't until a couple of months later that I was able to catch an episode here and there, until two years later, the networks switched around the programming and the two shows were no longer in competition!

And now, 14 years later, they are happily showing every Saturday morning on SoapNet; we have 2 TV's and 2 DVR's, so I can tape, watch downstairs, and no one harasses me about 'fluff TV'! Especially since the one show I watch every week is 'Surviver', and I'm only now being able to watch an entire episode, thanks to the time change and K's swimming schedule:)

LOL. So it's an addiction out of stubborness? Tell you what, let me pretend it is, cause I don't understand the 90210 either. The idea of a 40ish watching teens work through teen angst is one of those things which make me go "huh?"

Hope the rest of your Sunday is rant-free.

I suppose you probably don't understand my addiction to One Tree Hill either...or Gilmore Girls (it ended last year, sob!). Was going to try Gossip Girl this season, but my single parent duties interfered. So maybe if it goes into reruns over the summer...

It's how I 'keep in touch' with my college girls. It's taking me too long to write the series, LOL:)

No, I get it now - it's like going back and re-living the past

When is your mum going to comment? I'll make sure I check

LOL:) Don't hold your breath, AJ:) When and if she ever comments, I'll let you know! Every time I go to her house, I have to remind her of the website and the blog. And when she ordered the books, she got my pen name wrong at first:) Gotta love my mommy...

Thanks, Sandra! Hope you've recovered from your traveling:)

I've never watched Gilmore Girls or One Tree Hill so I cannot comment.

And honestly, all I want to do is go back to bed. Writing comes first though. I'm just not a morning person.
