Part 9 of BWSNBN

Yes, I'm still reading this damn thing.  Glutton for punishment....

Ch. 15:
Still too many 'whispers', 'murmurs' and 'flush'-ing going on.

Pg 252:  If she's looking at her fingers, how does she know he's put the champagne bottle on the table????
And if she's soooo concerned about getting tipsy, stop drinking it!  Or at least slow down.

Pg. 255:  Showing my ignorance here....what the hell is 'anal fisting'?  If it's what I think it is, how the hell can a fist get in there?

Pg. 256:  Why does she 'whisper' instead of 'gasp' when he mentions 'training'?  And I'm about to smack her 'inner slut goddess' into the next century.

Pg 258:  She thinks he's bossy now....wait til she gets in the playroom!  And I'm soooooooo glad she 'blanches' at the thought of caning!  (Yeah, that doesn't excite me either.)

Pg 260:  I'm sorry; I find the fact he's willing to compromise a little out of character for a Dom....unless I'm wrong here.....

Pg 265:  If he 'dips' his finger, then puts it into his own mouth, how the hell does she know she tastes salty?  There's no mention of her 'tasting' herself.  And I take issue with the 2nd half of this entire page.  Would a Dom REALLY behave like that?

Ch 16:
Pg 271:  Why would a doctor make a house call for a female exam?  This makes NO freaking sense whatsoever.

Pg 273:  She's about to get her first spanking.  Again, she has a choice.  Use your damn safe word or get the hell away from him!

Pg 280:  Oh yeah....act like an abused woman and say you fell down!   And why does K not mention the new car in front of the house?  And why does she care if C does or does not approve if his brother moves in with K?

Pg 285:  I find it hard to believe he would return, just to pacify her.

I was so disgusted after I read this on Friday, I haven't touched it at all since.  I might read the next two chapters tomorrow.  The good news?  Since I'm halfway through it, I have been able to discuss it with others and tell them WHY I think it's horrible.  And yes, I've even had one or two women agree with me!  Readers, not writers.

I've never seen any kind of commentary on this Book Which Shall Not Be Named which said the reader liked it, and yet... It's selling like the proverbial hotcake, and, I've heard, is about to be contracted for a movie. (Goodness only knows what THAT will be like! Probably a much worse mess.) So what's the moral here? That people are BUYING the damned thing, just to see how bad it is, and I imagine the author's laughing all the way to the bank. After all even BAD publicity can be GOOD publicity.I admit I've been tempted but then I decided to just go by what others were saying, and save my money and let her have one less royalty. Thanks for your chapter-by-chapter dissection proving I'm doing the right thing.

I'm glad someone is breaking it down for all those readers who think this book was the end-all be-all for erotic/erotica romance.

I hope those readers will turn to other authors who have written the genre for years and have honed their skills. Oh and have good editors. :)

I told my mom (who loved the books) to read others in the genre. Not mine of course. She is now reading Sylvia Day's new one which is supposed to be a take on "THE BOOK".

I hope she turns to other authors out there.

PS...I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on this book when everyone was claiming it's a must read.

@Toni: I'm glad you're enjoying this:) And that's why I refuse to call it by it's name; why give her any more search engine optimization?

@Amber: I need some of your cards:) I think I've handed out all of your pens. And I've been showing off Brynn Paulin's Brotherly Bonds print book (I love her Cress Brothers!)

What really honks me off is the people who race like sheep to buy this, because "everyone's reading it so it must be good", then when they find out it's crap, they use that as their excuse to blast the entire romance genre as poorly-written pablum. Sigh.

Many "real" authors (as opposed to fan-fiction sycophants) write more fully-realized stories, with interesting characters and realistic depictions, and those books were actually edited! I've read some BDSM books that made me weep because the characters became so real to me...I still don't want to be hit/whipped/smacked/punished during sex, but the reading of those books was a pleasure. Unlike your experience here...

And "anal fisting"? May I add, EW!

Love the blog as well as all the comments. Can't understand all this fuss over a mediocre book. At least I assume it's mediocre.. an bit going to waste time on it myself since I have yet to hear anybody say they liked it..

@Fiona: I'm glad you agree with me about the 'AF' (shudder). The only reason I began reading this was to form my own opinion. I'd seen others ripping it to shreds, and also, since I'm using it as a marketing tool (You would not BELIEVE the amount of traffic this book has brought to my booth!), I wanted to be able to discuss it with enthusiastic (misguided??) readers.

@Jean: I'm glad you're enjoying my commentary:) I hope some of it is humorous!

It's a pleasure to read your comments.
There are few books I wouldn't want to read, but this one definitely sounds like a waste of time.

@Mira: Welcome:) And yes, I can't believe how many women have told me 'Just wait til you read book #2!' Ummm....I'm sorry; I'm having trouble stomaching the 1st one; why would I read the 2nd or 3rd? Except to see if she improves, maybe?
