Molly and Erica Road Trip 2026

It's no secret I turned 60 last December.  My BFF did the same in May. But since we're 90 minutes apart with busy lives, I celebrated at home with family (that's what you do when your birthday is a week before a major holiday!) while she went to Pigeon Forge with her family (her special day happened to fall on a BLACKOUT weekend for me, so I couldn't even go up the day before!)

So what do you do?  "Hey, come to Louisville with me in July.  We'll party our a$$es off!"

Fortunately, two weeks before the event (and the discounted ticket were almost gone!), she agreed.  Her ticket bought; she agreed to be at my house by 8am Friday the 17th.  All was good!

Hiccup #1: I couldn't sleep Thursday night. Finally at 3am, I got up and trolled around the internet for an hour, going back to bed at 4. My alarm was set for 7am.

I did get up on time, drank a cup of coffee, and finished packing.  Erica arrived; I was still in my jammies.

Slight Hiccup #2:  Our new kitten crawled into my suitcase and took up residence while I was getting dressed.  No problem; I'll make sure other things are packed while Miku aka Scrappie Do aka Monster aka Squirt aka Peanut decides to move or I pick her up and reloacate her (that's what I ended up doing, earning me a glare from a nearly 9-week old.  Her mother has taught her well, ha ha!)

8:30 am:  We're on the road! We stop at Walmart in Princeton to top off the tank (a mere $36), run into Walmart for a 6-pack of Blue Berry Kool-Aid, then hit up Burger King for breakfast.  We're back on the highway by 10:15-30-ish.

About  90 minutes later, I pulled off at the Leavenworth exit (I still call it Tell City!) and purchased two footlong sandwiches from Subway, both ham and cheese.  They don't need refrigerated, since we can't check into our room until 3.

Around noon, we arrive and unload the van. My Con Mom, Marian Allen, greets me immediately, as does Jen Selinsky at the check in counter.  Whoo hoo, I have 'my' spot again!  Erica helps me unload, then I return to the van for load #2 and discover she has paid NO ATTENTION to my table displays on FB from last week.  Not to worry; it's a simple fix. I get everything organized, return the wagon to the van, and go park. I also gave her the tiara I'd bought and put on my own.

I come back in and am making some minor adjustments when Jayson William Allen grabs me in a hug...."So good to see you darlin'..." I introduced him to Erica:)

Then I took her on a tour. We started around the corner and introduced her to Jeri Maynard, Barbara Evers ("Don't Get Caught With Your Eyes Closed!"), which earned us both a giraff pendant, and Marian Allen and T.Lee Harris. Then it was on to the vendor hall.....then the 2nd half of the hallway......greeting Stephanie Lanham (Jayson's g/f), Ava Cuvey and Ariella Talix, Santiago Cirillo (he always greeted us with a bow and 'your majesties'!), Troy Maynard (The Very Vocal Viking) and a whole lot more!

I sold one book Friday, to fellow author Sianyn (Shannon in Welsh), who bought Playing With Time.  I'm interested in her Twisted Fairies.

Checked in at 3; we were in Rm 674, a nice hike from the elevators, but a NICE corner room with it's own hallway!  The shower was walk-in, and we had a king bed. Put the sandwiches in the fridge and went back downstairs.

Around 5:30, I was beginning to be hungry, so we went back up and grabbed half our food.  I had a panel at 7, and with the entertainment starting at 8, I knew we weren't going to have time to go get food. Scarfed down my sandwich and at 6:45, covered my table and used the facilities before my panel. Discovered some yellow streaks on my white tee, then was horrified to discover I'd dripped mustard all down the front of my badge and tee!  Oh well, the badge covered most of it.

Panel was good! 'Building Chemistry' had a good audience, and since we'd not received any prep for it, a few of the questions I just echoed another panelist! Marilyn Barr attended and expressed her exasperation we were 'too clean' in our descriptions!  "It's after hours....where are the f**ks?"

Afterward, went back to the room to change my shirt and to soak my other one. Fixed our cocktails (vodka/Kool-Aid) and returned to the ballroom to discover we'd missed the belly dancing, and settled in for Jayson's concert.  Around 11:30, headed back upstairs to decompress and go to sleep.  I did go back downstairs to get another washcloth, and without thinking, hugged Troy Maynard and told him I was going to bed.

Carl Moore's eyes widened and says, "Ohhhh.....I just put it together!"

Troy and I looked at each other. "Put what to-Oh no, we're not TOGETHER!"

Troy puts his arm back around me. "But we are together."

Carl laughed and put his arm around me, sandwiching me between them.

"Ooooh, a Molly Sandwich!"  We had a good laugh, then I went back upstairs and passed out!  My three hours of sleep was definitely catching up with me!

Day 2:  (I promise I won't get so detailed!)

After some confusion as to how the shower handle controlled the water temp (It was in an UP position, and very scalding water kept coming out), plus one trip downstairs to find out what I was doing wrong, Erica figured it out. Whomever had the room before us left it in the wrong position; it was supposed to be DOWN), we each got our showers and headed downstairs.

Jayson showed up and bought my Aiden Kross book!

Spent the rest of the time talking to a LOT of people, giving directions to rooms (Calumet was BEHIND a row of vendors, and you had to go under the stairway to get to it), and selling my banquet ticket to Marian Gosling (and apologizing for the mustard stains!). At 6, we covered the table, nearly had to evacuate due to the fire alarm going off, then went to Chipotle for dinner.  Came back, dressed in our sparkly shirts, fixed another cocktail for each, and went down to the party.

I'd put in Independence Day before figuring out the app, and put in my others. So when I was called up, I was surprised it was Edge of 17 instead. Was complimented, then Erica and I were called up for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, but my mic was off for the 1st verse! E and I shared hers until they got mine turned on and we had a lot of dancers! Then waited.....and waited....danced, laughed, sang....and waited.  Finally at 11:30, I was able to belt out Independence Day, receiving cheers!  We even got Santiago up to do I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys:) Returned to the room at midnight and passed out!

Day 3:

This is normally the day I'm away from my booth, taking pics of everyone. But instead, I shanghied everyone over to the Imaginarium banner, and we took pics there.  I also sold an UNPRECEDENTED 5 more books!  Normally, my weekend sales are 0 on Friday, 2-4 on Saturday, and maybe one on Sunday. So this was AMAZING!!!!  Broke down the table at 5, and went to the Troll Pub with Aubrey and Baron, like last year. Had a delicious meal of a Mushroom/Swiss burger and Caesar side salad, then took pics in front of the Troll before heading back to the hotel.  Holly had invited us up to their room, and it turned out they were in 774, right above us! After changing into PJs, we fixed our final cocktails and walked up the stairs. I'll admit, we did more observing than actual interaction. The men were around the table, drinking while the women were doing Tarot readings on each other. When Aubrey arrived and set hers up, I almost suggested leaving (we'd been there almost 30 mins by that time), but decided to just watch. I was trying to keep my feelings neutral; I don't believe in that stuff. But when Aubrey flicked over the final card and it was the Sexuality one, then admitted she'd NEVER had that card turn up before, we all lost it!

At one point, I leaned forward, patted Isa on the shoulder (she was getting the reading) and asked, "Is this a sign she needs to read my books?", which brought MORE laughter from the group!

Then Baron arrived and did one on Aubrey, which nearly had me rolling my eyes at her response to what was shown. After she was done, I asked Erica if she was ready to go back downstairs, so we said goodbye to everyone and left.

Monday:

Intended to sleep in, but was awake by 8, then got moving around 9am. Packed up; I went down to retrieve my wagon and move the van closer to the front door. Saw Carma, Aubrey, Baron, Wayne, Cassandra, and Miss Ruby in the lobby/restaurant, so hugged each one once more. Hauled everything down to the van and checked out. Stopped at the Arby's in Evansville for lunch, then came on home.

Back to reality......had a fun-filled weekend with my BFF, and she said she wouldn't mind a return trip next year! And there are still people who didn't make it this year I need to introduce her too (Brian K Morris, John Pyka, Demetrious Witherspoon, Steven Shrewsbury, Sandy Lender)  So Note To Self:  Get hotel reservations in BEFORE the double queen rooms are booked up!

Esp if Sara decides to come with the kids.  We're gonna need more room.

Also, this convention MIGHT be held elsewhere next year; the convention has somewhat outgrown the Holiday Inn.

4) Dan and Ricky took the hopper before I was ready; John took my trash and ran after them.  On the return trip, I told Dan to drop the hopper and bring in the concrete; he let Ricky do it while he went to the cash office.  "This is how you do things down here, Dan!"

SM Maria was nearby; the woman flagged her down.  I wasn't even logged into my Zebra yet!

2) Customer with cabinets had boss on phone.  Tried 3 cards; none worked.  45 mins later, decided to pick them up tomorrow. He spoke very little English; we communicated through the phone translator; it's saved under MY phone # (had to transfer it to Reg #1, in order to ring up customers while we were waiting); I HOPE no one gives me flak about it tomorrow!

3) Due to running out of $5s and $10s, was on Reg #2 from 5:30 to close.

4) Customer returned ceiling tiles and was going to push them back, but got hung up on suckers, so just left it.  WTH???

5) Customer was told we could order the $39 batteries, but we had none in the network and the system wouldn't let me do a PUL. Customer demanded a manager, and Levi was stuck at CS, so sent them up there.

6) Customer arrived to pick up his order, but Fulfillment was way behind, so he picked it himself. Then I couldn't figure out how to print it. He took some of it and pushed the rest behind the Pro Desk and said he'd return in the morning for Pro Kathy to figure out.

7) Reg #2 ran out of $1s; Levi managed to THAT!

8) I misread the time when I clocked out for lunch and clocked in a minute late. Levi was like, 'You're 4 minutes late! Now I only get a 15 min lunch!"

America Turns 250!!!!!

Several events have been planned to celebrate this special year, and I'm proud to be a part of two of them!

Summer On Main 7/26-Cancelled, due to rain, but rescheduled for 7/3.  Unfortunately, I have to work that day, but am hoping I can either a) swap shifts with someone or b) my boss lets me take a very late lunch???  We take the stage at 8:15; I could easily clock out at 8; slide into my place; sing; be back by 9!

Celebration Singers at Lincoln Ampitheatre 6/27:

This is an open-sided venue, so the show goes on, rain or no rain!  We sloshed our way to Jasper, pouring rain the entire time, and ran into flooded roads near Ft. Branch. They very nicely delayed the performance an hour, to give the rain time to move along.

They set us up strangely. Sopranos were to the left; altos on the right. I was scheduled to sit, but all the seats were taken, and rather snottily informed the vacant seats were 'spoken for',  I got myself a chair from the back of the stage and put it in a vacant spot in the 2nd row....next to the snotty lady.

There were two stools to my left, which were soon occupied. The lady on the end asked me if I'd taken her folder; I had not. She found it soon after, then asked me again if I'd moved it. I explained patiently that my spot had been vacant. A few moments later, she asked if she could switch with me. I said no, that she and the other lady were Soprano 1, while I was a Soprano 2.  The other lady swapped spots.

The program is about to start; the sun came out. Nagging Lady Now Beside Me whispers the sun is interfering with her ability to see her music and would I PLEASE swap places?

To keep the peace, I agreed.......then spent an uncomfortable hour with no back support; my left leg went to sleep, and I was now sandwiched between two ladies taking the high notes!  Thank god Precious Rhea was behind me and in my ear; I followed her!  I couldn't even hear the two ladies on either side.

We did stay for Act 1 of Pioneer Song, and I was very impressed with one of the child actors.  She knew her lines and was good at 'emoting' when not in the spotlight!

It still drives me nuts when people INSIST on texting and driving......and using their GPS when they KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING!!!!!   I don't CARE if someone needs the code to a house ASAP....you're DRIVING!!!  AND WE'RE LATE......

End rant.  Nuff said.

Friday July 3rd:

Show went off with just a few glitches.  I was able to leave at 7:30 and when Nanette and I arrived, I realized I'd forgotten my music!  Then the piano was too loud...too soft....just right....then too loud again!  Neil Gordon livestreamed it for me; said the connection cut out a few times.

Went to the Hamilton Sing-A-Long, and was disappointed:  I thought they'd have the closed captioning up on the screen, but no.  Left after the 1st song.  Rain was also in the forecast.

Saturday July 4th:

My town received some sad news this afternoon:  Our fireworks were postponed due to the unexpected death of the organizer, who was killed in a freak accident while testing one of the rockets. It malfunctioned and exploded in his face, causing shrapnel to penetrate his brain, killing him instantly.

I'd bought some special Red, White, and Blue sparklers earlier, so we lit them. Will had bought a Magic Mushroom Fountain and some idiot decided to drive down our street while it was going off, WITH his window rolled down.  *eye roll*  Also, the neighbors had a nice display we could see from the porch.

Sunday July 5th:

Sang at the 10:30 service at Westminster Presbyterian in Washington, In with 9 others, and we were complimented. We sang My Country Tis Of Thee and Thank You For The Blessings.  Joyce had also sent us an email with the following message:

"Kim McConnell, the leaders of the Pepper Choplin commission, told him about our performances.  He wrote, Please say, "hello" to Joyce and all the good people in Vincennes. I so enjoyed my time there. Please also tell them that I'm working on singing trip to Greece in October, 2027 and perhaps a concert in the redesigned Lincoln Center, also in 2027.   Cathy Briles is traveling to Croatia this fall to sing with Pepper.  Time to start thinking about trips in 2027!"

While Greece is off the table for me, I would like to return to NYC!

From The Stupid Files: Y8, W19

 Day 86: Hot, 90s; 61 t/a

ASM:  Shannon

HC:  Riley

Loaders:  Jax, Pro John

1) Had customer order shingles to be delivered, but when it came time to pay, he kept insisting on a 'code'....DS Ian walked up, and I turned them over to him.  Turned out he wanted it run through VSP!

2) ASM Alex is leaving July 10th; he was offered a job 10 mins from his home!

3) ASM Shannon's taking Alex's place over Pro

4) My upper back ached all night

5) Was light-headed until 7.  Weird,,,,

Outfit:  Gray PU tee, 1 button cut off capris, tiny silver hoops

Day 87: Hot, humid, 94; 45 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Riley

Loaders:  DS Charles, Korbin

1) I think I had more than 45; my stats were stalled at 8pm with 42; I know I had more than three more customers.

2) Arrived at 4:30, after D's Uncle Joe's funeral in Westphalia.

3) Alex said I made his troublemaker list!  Answered, 'Good, I made the FUN one!'

Outfit:  Teal blue tee, black capris, blue 'marble' danglies, cross necklase

Day 88: Hot, Humid, 90s; 85 t/a

ASM:  Daniel

HC:  Levi

Loaders:  Jax, Korbin, Pro John

1) Customer had LAR, but was not an authorized user,  Tried to tell me to call the 1800 #, but didn't know how to find that screen.  Mgr Alex helped me....Trusted Customer, Mgr o/r, THEN call the #!

2) Customer walked up and thought he said "Shhhh...." to his wife.  So I naturally asked, "Are we hunting wabbit?" They cracked up! Turned out that's NOT what he said, but what followed was a trip down Memory Lane via Loony Tunes lines:)

Outfit:  Gray USA tee, 1 button cut off capris, thin gold hoops

Day 89: Hot, 90s; 98 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Madi

Loaders:  Jax, Pro John

1) Madi told me I'm good to leave Friday at 7:30; there's an extra person coming in at 5!  BUT.....Alex had to ruin it by talking to me like a child.

   a) "You're supposed to find your own person to cover"  Yes, but it's a BLACKOUT weekend, and I didn't know who was scheduled and who wasn't!

  b) "It's come to my attention you've been texting about being late or when you need off....you're supposed to call the store."  Do you realize how HARD it is to call to get reach a REAL PERSON now with the AI-crap?  Tuesday, for the funeral, I dialed the minute I hit 6th st.....was disconnected by College Ave, and by the time I hit St. Clair St, was just NOW being put on hold!  So I hung up and dropped by to WALK IN and tell them I was going to be late!  Then I seriously miscalculated how long it would take to get from Westphalia back to Vincennes.

  c) I'll concede this one; the saw was down, so I told the customer to plug in his circular saw in order to cut his plywood.  It was just unfortunate Alex walked up just as he was finishing up.  "You're not allowed to do that; sell him a battery-operated hand saw!"  I'll admit to having doubts about allowing it, so yeah, I was in the wrong here.  But I made sure we plugged it into an acceptable plug!  Give me props for that!

2) Filled out a credit app in Spanish.....THAT was weird.

3) Had three people at 10pm.  1st one was a breeze; 2nd one wrote a check and TOOK HIS TIME; 3rd one was a nightmare.  Card kept declining....he showed me his balance on his phone; ample funds for his $950 purchase. After the 3rd time, I suggested we stage it as a Pick Up Later.  Just as I changed everything, he tells me to wait; goes out to his car; gets ANOTHER card (in the meantime, I hurridly change it all back...thankfully it was only 5 items!) and this one clears.  Hallelujua!  I ring up the toilet, give him his reciepts, and he's out the door.....by 10:25!  Madi and Raven cleaned me out; I took back the three items to Electrical and Tools, then stashed the Aisle 30 one in Lights before putting up my vest.  By now, my irritation with Alex and the last customer was beginning to simmer, so went to karaoke and stayed out until 2am.

Outfit:  Blue stars and stripes tee, 1 button cut off capris, red/white hoops, r/w/b scrunchie (half up).

Day 90:  Sara's birthday/250 Celebration Downtown Hot, 90s; 80 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Levi

2) O left at 4 to cover breaks; customer needed an o/r; hopped on #2 and got slammed. Riley stuck on #1 for 30 mins!

3) Customer had 3 carts; register #1 'froze' after 9 items; didn't catch it and had to reboot cart, then rescan 5 bags and the large items.

4) Left at 7:35

Outfit:  Red Choir top, black capris, white danglies, patriotic scrunchy in ponytail.

Day 91:  Rare Sat, 4th of July Hot, 90s; 50 t/a

ASM:  Alex

HC:  Levi

Loaders:  DS Charles, Pro John

1) Got 'the talk' from Keri...."Your calling in late needs to stop...." I KNOW it's been an issue; I'm fully aware of it!  My leg is healed, so not more trips to E'ville, and I couldn't help the funeral or the concert being pushed back due to rain!  Forgive me; I have a LIFE outside of my job.....

2) Fireworks cancelled, due to organizer passing away.  Found out later a firecracker malfunctioned, sending shrapnel into his brain, killing him instantly.

3) Calmed down a customer who was PO'd due to a) Lumber associates not hearing the Code 3 page; b) His card kept declining; and c) his tax exempt # didn't work.  Did manage to fun it through VSP, saving him $1K, and was able to do a phone sale, saving him a return trip. Alex told me to please use the walky-talky!

4) Two WTH are you wearing customers:  Guy wearing bib overalls and nothing else; female with a skirt so short her ass cheeks were peeking out.  Put some pants on!

5) Customer asked about my fall on 6/20; told him I'm fine, just a little banged up.

6) Got 7/7 on LU!

7) Mgmnt fed us!

Outfit:  Gray 250 tee, 1 button cut off capris, patriotic headband; forgot the earrings.

Day 85: Warmer, 80s; 95 t/a

ASM:  Daniel

HC:  Levi

Day 83:  Rare Sat: Warm, 80s; 17 t/a
ASM:  Alex
HC:  Levi
Loaders:  Jax, Korbin
Only stayed 2 hours due to tripping over a flat cart.  I'd scanned everything, then misjudged where I was in relation to the end of the cart.  Suddenly I felt myself falling, and managed to flip over onto my back with the wind knocked out of my, along with my dignity.  Glasses had fallen off; I hoped no one would step on them.

Took three male customers to pick me up.  I put my glasses on, wiped the tears from my eyes (I wasn't hurt, just shocked!) and took a few seconds to regroup before resuming my job.  But the bump on my right hand was swelling at an alarming rate, so Kaitlyn and Pro John took over. I went to the back to run some cold water on my hand and calm down; Kait fixed me an ice pack, and called Alex, who told us to come up front. Raven found the video, so we could get the correct time (I'd said 'five minutes ago'....turned out to be more like 20!) and while I was filling out the incident report, my sense of humor kicked in.

"I willingly and knowingly tripped over the cart in protest at being called in on my day off..."

Alex said, "I KNEW it!"

That's not what I put, btw....

Took two tries to get a hold of D, who came back to get me. Kait put my vest up and either she or Raven went down to get my stuff from the Pro Desk, then both of them walked me out to the truck.

Went home and continued to ice both my hand and my knee.

Ended up calling in Sunday, when I woke up with not only my knees, but my shoulders and collarbone in pain.  Took two rounds of 3 Tylenol Arthritis and spent the afternoon at Kyle's for Father's Day.  Hand is still slightly tender, but the swelling is down and just bruised a little.
Outfit:  Black Foreigner tee, long capris, small gold hoops

2) Lumber associate Dan called in; the other person on the schedule had already quit two weeks prior.  Korbin came over to help, but all he could do was help customers, flat stack, and sweep.
3) Someone cut wire for a customer, but didn't know they had to write down the particulars.  Customer took a picture of the barcode.
4)  I ran out of steam around 8:30 and fought sleep for 2 hours.

Then others needed orders found, and it was generally mass chaos for about an hour.
4) Earlier, Olivia had taken her last break. Customer needed o/r, so hopped on 2 until Raven arrived, but she didn't finish them out.  Ended up bouncing back and forth between two customers until #1 was out the door, then finished #2 and went back to #1!

5) Found out LA Daniel quit.  THAT's why he's not been here all week!  It's been nice w/o Jax, ha ha....
6) When I arrived, there was no trash bag in the large can and NO box of shopping bags.  Also, no trash bag in #2.  Turned out Bryan didn't know where we kept them.
7) Forgot to give a customer their sixty-five cents; the hubby says he's not worried about it.  Gave it to the next customer.
8) Had a 'sand fountain'.....customer put play sand on counter and it 'sprang a leak'.  Teased him about leaving a trail so he could find himself back!

This Set My Teeth On Edge.....

As several of you know, I watch a lot of YouTube videos.
Normally, I skip the ads, but one intrigued me.

"Make up to $2K per month and this is how I do it."
Okay, I'll bite. How?

"Join KDP (yup) and upload your word document. Amazon does everything for you. No website, no ads, no social media.." (ummm, what about promoting your work?)

"But I'm not a writer. How will this work?"

"Simple.  Use AI or have someone write a story for you."

*needle scratch*

WHAT?????????????

This ad is VERY misleading!!!

1) Serious authors use KDP to get their work into print or e-format.  Only IDIOTS think they can upload a bunch of AI-written CRAP and think they'll make tons of money.  Nuh-uh, no way Jose.

2) Readers can tell the difference between an author who has written every single word, sweated over every time a character tries to hijack a scenario, and put their blood, sweat, and tears into a finished product with an EDITOR and a COVER ARTIST.

3) Not every book will go viral.  I've been using KDP (and now D2D to go wide) for nearly 10 years.  Am I a millionaire?  No.  Does Amazon send me thousands of dollars every month for royalties?  I wish!

I work a part-time job, plus am a busy wife, mom, and grandma.  I PROMOTE my work on social media and at many in person events to get my name out there.  I waste a lot of time watching TV to deal with the stress of my job and the stress of being at home (kid issues). It helps me relax and keeps me from other destructive habits that I would really rather not develop.  I blow off steam once a week at karaoke and at choir practice.

4) If someone writes a story for you, that's called a GHOSTWRITER, and it may or may not be the story lodged in your imagination.

"It's going to take some work, and several months, but just follow my instructions and soon you'll be receiving monthly royalties..."

I pity the person who sees this ad and uploads a document full of AI CRAP, then expects the almighty 'Zon to start depositing thousands of dollars into their account within 3 months.

It ain't gonna happen.

Period.

I also had the misfortune of uploading my latest book to D2D and was proudly promoting the fact it went live on B&N first......the day B&N 's CEO went on the morning news and said he didn't have a problem putting AI-generated 'books' for sale in his stores.

"As long as they clearly state it was AI-generated."

*needle scratch*

Do you really think anyone's going to actively crow, "I used AI for the creation of this beautiful work that took me maybe one day to create"?

For the first time, I put a disclaimer in my book.

"NO AI WAS USED IN THE CREATION OF THIS BOOK.  EVERY WORD CAME OUT OF MY FINGERTIPS AND I PAID AN EDITOR AND COVER ARTIST FOR THEIR WORK"

Okay, I didn't use shouty caps and it was worded a little different, but you get the point.

For another perspective on this subject, go here.  Warning, he gets a little grumpy.  But yeah, it's a red-hot issue right now.

So if you see any of my posts concerning Aiden Kross, I've used the Smashwords, Kobo, and as soon as it's live on Amazon (I uploaded the print version yesterday), I'll promote that link.

Will I still buy books from B&N?  Since it's the only brick and mortar bookstore within driving distance (okay, Books A Million is also, but haven't been there in YEARS!), yes.  In fact, I celebrated Release Day last week by buying two more books that were NOT 'next on the list'.  Impulse buys which grabbed my eye next to the door.  Okay, at least one was.  I'd gone looking for Dial A For Aunties and couldn't find it.  Turned out I was looking in the wrong section, and the nice associate found it for me. Then, while waiting for the spouse to finish what he was doing, the cover and title Summer In The City grabbed my eye, so bought it also.

(It was really his fault for leaving me in the store unsupervised for ten minutes, LMAO!)

Anyway, go have a good day.  I hope to have physical copies of Aiden Kross:  Tales From The Road by June 13th.  I also have plenty of Heart Song, which released January 3rd!

May Reading Schedule:
Awakening-Dana Fuller Ross Was actually a little disappointed in how this series ended.  It spanned 30-40 years, mainly about India, Frank, and Sally.  I thought Toby and Alexandria perished on the Titanic, only to discover they both die 'off camera'....Toby from a heart attack and Alex from old age.  Eulalia also dies 'off camera', which is a shame.  In the end, Sally ends up staying on the Madrona to keep it in the family. The Great Depression affects everyone, and Sally's husband escapes Nazi Germany.  Now I want to reread the series.  Whip and Cathy die in a rockslide; Sam dies 'off camera', but we visit his funeral. Not sure when Claudia passes....or Dr. Martin and Toni.  Edward and Rasheda die 'off camera'.  What about Hank and Cindy?  Why do we not get to say goodbye to them?
The One and Only-Emily Giffin DRR!  Really enjoyed this!

Survivor 50: In The Hands of the Fans, Ep 11-12

 Ep 11:

Ozzy has a nightmare about being voted out again with his idol in his pocket.  Tells Cirie and Tiff he'll play it.

Immunity Challenge:  Floating Doghouse Balance Challenge! Winner earns an advantage for a twist coming at Tribal.

Cirie out 1st after move to 2nd rung

Aubrey out after getting to the top

Devins falls

When they go to one foot, everyone out except Tiff!  But wait, there's an issue.  On the review, Tiff did NOT have her foot raised, so she'd DQ'd.  Jon, the next to last one to fall, WINS!!!

TWIST:  The remaining 8 are divvied up into two groups, and will go to tribal to vote someone out.  Jon, being safe, will cast a vote at BOTH tribals!

Group 1:  Tiff, Emily, Cirie, Devins

Emily tells Jon, Cirie, and Tiff she can convince Rick to play the idol on her; they all vote Devins out.

Emily then turns around and tells DEVINS the plan, only for him to play the idol for himself. Em and Devins then vote CIRIE out.

Group 2:  Joe, Ozzy, Rizzo, and Aubrey

Ozzy tells Aubrey EVERYTHING, which she takes as 'you're going on the jury, so this is why I need to win'.  Aubrey turns around and tells Joe and Rizzo what he said, in hopes of getting them on her side to vote Oz out instead of her.  When Jon arrives, Aubrey tells Jon about Cirie's extra vote.  Joe tells Rizzo the plan to out Ozzy, but Rizzo wavers on whether or not to tell Oz the plan, so he'll play his idol.

Tribal Council #1:  Cirie, Emily, or Devins?

Devins plays his idol for himself.

Cirie casts her extra vote; she and Emily are tied at 2 each.

Revote:  Emily voted out, 4-2 (Cirie)

Tribal Council #2:  Ozzy or Aubrey?

Ozzy voted out 4-1 WITH THE IDOL IN HIS POCKET!!! He is absolutely crushed.

Ep 12:

Devins is feeling the pressure, since Emily was voted out, and he voted against Cirie.  Tries to find an idol, but no luck, esp with Jon on his tail.

Immunity Challenge:  Balancing and spelling Immunity blocks!  Reward:  BBQ rib meal

Aubrey and Tiff in the lead, drop. Rizzo drops. Joe's in the lead!

Joe wins as everyone else drops!  Chooses Cirie and Rizzo to join in the reward.

Back at camp, Tiff is annoyed with Rizzo still having his idol and wants to blindside him.  Aubrey may or may not be on board; Devins and Jon are definitely on board.

Cirie joins Jon on the hammock and it BREAKS!  They're able to reattach it.

Cirie is NOT on board.  Did she tell Rizzo?

Tribal Council:  Devins or Rizzo?

Wait....is this a double episode?  We're only at the 32 min mark.....

Rick plays his Shot-in-the-Dark.  Verdict:  Not Safe.

Devins voted out, 6-0

2ND HALF:

Tiff wants Rizzo out; Aubrey and Jon pitch getting out Tiff.  Rizzo tells Cirie it's Tiff.  What will happen at the challenge?

Immunity Challenge: Obstacle Course with arch puzzle

Teeter Totter: Tiff, Joe, and Jon 1st

Disc puzzle:  Joe, Jon, Tiff

Transporting blocks while crossing a hinged balance beam:  Jon and Joe 1st

Solving Arch puzzle:  They think the word is 'inconceivable', but not sure how to spell it!

Everyone's on the puzzle....who knows how to spell it first?

Jon and Joe think they have it, but no....

Tiff wins!!!

Tribal Council:  Aubrey or Cirie?

Cirie voted out, 4-2 (Aubrey)
